Neurolinguistic Psychotherapy
NLPt, or Neurolinguistic Psychotherapy, is an holistic, outcome-focused model, based on constructivist principles and holding at its heart the basic presuppositions of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, as developed by John Grinder and Richard Bandler in the 1970s.
As individuals, we create different realities for ourselves even when faced with the same situations; our happiness, or our stress, is therefore a construct based on our own perception of what is going on around us; we believe what we see, and we see what we believe. The models of NLPt allow us to explore the unconscious processes behind the creation of the individual’s reality, and assist those who are creating a reality that is less than useful, which is resulting in their psychological distress.
NLPt has a diverse history and an eclectic combination of therapeutic aspects which gives the NLPt therapist choice and behavioural flexibility when working with clients. For example, aspects of Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Rogerian Therapy and Jungian Psychotherapy can all be accredited.
The relationship between client and therapist is considered to be of paramount importance; the therapist holding an attitude of non-judgemental acceptance of the client, and an unconditional positive regard. It maintains the premise that positive change at an unconscious level can enable the client to have greater behavioural choice.
Using NLPt techniques with hypnotherapy can enable fast, powerful, lasting change; helping you to take control of your own life and move on from where you are now to where you want to be.
Mindfulness, Meditation and Hypnotherapy
Mindfulness and Meditation are essential tools if we want to connect with our authentic self in order to achieve self-acceptance and self-empowerment. Developing a daily practice will help you to become more grounded and balanced. Hypnosis is a state of relaxed, focussed awareness, which can be utilised for creating or affirming personal change. It is the place between wake and sleep; deeply relaxing, allowing a heightened state of awareness, clarity and creativity. Hypnotherapy helps people to communicate with their unconscious mind, and access their inner creative potential.
How Joanna Can Help
Our first meeting will be a one hour initial consultation to discuss your needs and what you would like to achieve from your sessions. This meeting enables us to make sure not only that I am able to help you, but also that you are happy with me as your coach, and that my methods of coaching and therapy are appropriate for you. At this first session, we will discuss how we will work together, how long you would like your sessions to be - ie one hour, or more, and how frequently you would like your sessions. If you are on medication it may be necessary for me to ask you for permission to write to your GP, because the way I work is psychotherapeutic in nature.
Sessions are held online via Zoom, or by telephone.
All sessions, whether online or by telephone, including text and e-mail conversations, are conducted in complete confidentiality. Click Here to read our full Privacy Policy.
Supervision
Good coaching and therapeutic practice recommends the clinical supervision of all caseload. I receive supervision on a regular basis in order to ensure my clients' and my safety and to develop and maintain my standards of professionalism. Client confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Codes of Ethics
I abide by the Codes of Ethics and Conduct of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and Counselling (UKCP) and the Association for Coaching (AC).
If you would like to discuss working with me on a one-to-one basis, please contact me to arrange a confidential chat.
